A Historic Trip Around PSC Campus

Last week an interested PSC alum stopped by the archives for a short visit. He reminisced about his time at the college and talked about former friends and classmates. Before he left, he mentioned to me how much the campus has changed. He talked about the (relatively) recent construction of the library and gymnasium. This conversation made me think about the physical transformation of Philander Smith. I searched through our photograph collection and was struck by the number of structures that have been erected and dismantled. I decided to scan a few of my favorites and put them on the blog. As always, if something catches your attention, you can always come to the archives to get more information.
This is a picture of Webb Hall taken during the early 1900s. Webb Hall served as the girls' dormitory for many years.

This is a picture of Budlong Hall taken in 1890. This building was constructed in 1883 and remained standing until 1963.

We have several more pictures of PSC buildings in the archives. Seeing these pictures firsthand will give you a new appreciation of how PSC has grown.
