PSC Archives Have the Blues.

If you have some free time on campus and want to listen to some great music, take a trip over to the PSC Archives. We have an impressive selection of old blues music along with some great classical records. The records were donated by Mr. Lawrence Hamilton. The collection includes work from Mississippi John Hurt, Fred McDowell, Pinetop Perkins and many other great musicians. We have a record player available and encourage any student interested in learning more about music to visit.

Congratulations to the Spring 2011 Honors Convocation Scholars!

Those who attended the Honors Convocation today had an opportunity to see some awesome students receive recognition for excellent grades. Some of the very best students were offered an opportunity to apply for membership into the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society, an organization that was established at Tennessee State University in 1937.

This is a major accomplishment for these students and we hope they take the day to celebrate their achievements. More importantly, these students should keep in mind that their achievements will live on in the college's archives to inspire future generations.

This first picture offers a perfect example. This picture was taken in 1966. In this picture we see  Ms. Etta Williams (a PSC student) receiving an award from Dr. Freeman, a former President of Alpha Kappa Mu. This picture was taken at Philander Smith during the AKU's annual meeting.

This second picture shows Ms. Marian McPherson shaking hands with Dr. Annie Williams during the Spring 2011 Honors Convocation.

We believe that future PSC students will be inspired by the actions of today's scholars. Let us also keep Dr. Kimbrough's words in mind and continue to strive for excellence in everything we do!
